When the Xbox 360 overheats it causes the lead free solder to crack, the more that crack the worse the machine will get. So eventually I suspect your machine will die completely and show either 3rrod or e74.

To remedy this you need to strip the console down and replace what's called the X-Clamps, at the same time replace the heat-sink paste and then you need to re-heat the whole board. We use a special IR over which re-bakes everything and re-seats the solder properly, a lot of people use a heat-gun but you have to be very careful.

|I would advise against using the towel trick because it will damage your console beyond repair and it is a temp fix at best. The machine can be easily fixed by a professional.

Thats the red ring of death as some may call it but don't be afraid theres ways to fix it. 1. wrap the counsle in about 3 bath towels so it is fully covered and turn the counsle on. Leave it sit on for about 10 min. then remove the towels and turn off. wait 1min then turn back on. This should work even tho it sounds stupid(It worked with mine) 2. request a repair on the xbox website. all you have to do then is bring the counsel to UPS and its taken care of and fixed right back to your doorstep.
