My computer will not load past loading your personal settings what can i do

Hi,
There could be two possible reasons for the same
1. There is a windows update that is installing in the background
2. The user profile has got corrupted

To check what the problem is , restart the computer and before the windows screen appears , tap on the F8 key multiple times and select safe mode and hit enter. Select the user name and see if the system goes into windows . If yes , try system restore. If no, the windows OS may need to be repaired .

How do i log on if user profile cannot be loaded for dell inspiron notebook mini

Windows has a hidden administrator account that can be accessed. Reboot the notebook and press F8 continually until you see a menu with different options to load windows. Choose safe mode and press enter. Once you are at the login screen, you should see an account that says administrator in addition to any other user accounts in XP.

Cause of user profile not loading

The question is:

What causes a user profile not to be loaded in Windows domain based network?

the answer is:
there are probably 3 broad reasons for this,
1. the user corrupted their profile somehow, such as shutting down without logging off (hard power off)
2. the connection to the domain was lost ungracefully, and offline information was not copied entirely, causing a mismatch of some encrypted profile data, (effectingly corrupting again) and preventing the logon.
3. an unknown event took place between the last time the user sucessfully logged on, and this time where the profile is now not loading. this could be hardware related (faulty Hard disk), RAM parity errors( bad memory), a change to the user profile SID details on the domain controller or other domain change.

Usually the cause is not so much a problem, unless it consistantly reoccurs.

Fixing it however, in XP is fairly easy.
with an account with domain admin rights, just navigate to the UNC path "\\computername\c$\documents and settings" - note the name of the folder/user affected, and just .old their profile folder.
example, username is Philip. - you see in their c:\documents and settings\ folder the folder called Philip, rename it to philip.old or something else.

You have to ensure this is done while the user is logged off, as files in this folder will be in use otherwise. potentially useful to reboot the computer before navigating to the profile folder.

try restarting the system, after a few seconds BEFORE windows load press F8 continuously until a selection screen appears, select safe mode, wait for it to load, select ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT not your name or your account log in, install printer driver, restart. Your driver is installed.

Need to set up a second user on my laptop

click on START, choose control panel, click on user accounts near the bottom of choices, and set up a 'guest account'. Or another user with personal icon and password. assuming you have the 'administrator' passworded access to the laptop. your 'guest', or new non-administrative access member will have no rights to access your private files, unless you choose to share them. this is for XP.
good luck!

My laptop wont go passed the "loading your personal profile" scre

Sounds like you have a rogue startup program or it has a virus/spyware.Sometimes a faulty HDD with bad sectors will not load the OS but up to the point where the bad sector is located. You can either try using an HDD regenerator or go into the OS in safe mode and get rid of some of its unneeded startup programs and run your virus or spyware software. Also if you can get into your OS remove the password because a virus or spyware can effect your logon by corrupting your sam file folder or even changing essential WINDOWS files. You could take the HDD out of your laptop put it in an external inclosure connect it to another PC to retrieve the files you want to keep.

Yes, when you switch the laptop on hold down the F8 key until you see a black screen with a list of white text, one of the options will be "Safe Mode", use the arrow keys to highlight safe mode (just safe mode, not safe mode with anything) and press return. The computer will start to the welcome screen and you will see a user-name you don't normally see called "Administrator". Click on Administrator and you will find it is not password protected (in spite of the fact that the Administrator account has more access to the system than any other account!) when the administrator profile loads it will ask you if you want to continue in safe mode and you do. click start, click control panel and click on users and groups now click on your son's user account and click remove password. now click back, click on the Administrator account and click change password, the old password should be left blank and you're new Administrator password should be something at least 7 letters, numbers and special characters (!@£$%^&*) long that you can remember. Now just restart and let it start up normally, once loaded advise your son to set a password he can remember or at least write down somewhere safe.
