Is it connected properly?there should be a green line going back & forth on a "battery" if the battery is no good, theyre cheap on Ebay.Make sure its new, check shipping costs as they vary.Open up the back-4 screws.Lift out battery.FULLY recharge.Very easy.

Open the battery cover, remove and replace battery, fold a piece of paper the size of the battery a few times over, place on battery and replace cover. paper presses battery into place! Now charge it.

Try plugging in the USB connection again. If that doesn't work, unplug it and then press and hold the on button for ten seconds.

There is a procedure for charging the battery by USB cable. Check to make sure you are following this procedure. This is most often the problem with mp3 player. let me know if you have not got this.
