How to unlock the screen menu

I have a IBM ThinkVision 17" LCD screen. I'm not able to change the screen setting. Whenever I press any of the buttons other than the Brightness Adjustment button, I see a message which says ' Menu is Locked'

Please let me know how can I correct this.

Re: how to unlock the screen menu

You need to press and hold the "enter" button for 10 seconds to unlock the controls for adjustment. After you have the settings where you want them you can press and hold the "enter" button again for 10 seconds to lock menuback up. This will prevent anyone from changing your settings by accident.

Im getting horizontal lines that filling screen fully from top to the bottom

Press the Menu button on the Monitor, if the lines go over the monitor then its a Fault with the Monitor.
If the lines go under the menu then its something with the computer. e.g. graphics card. Try pressing F8 when you first turn the computer and go into Safe mode and see if you get the lines on the screen. If you do its a Hardware problem with the graphics card. If you don't its a software problem update the graphics driver.

Ibm thinkvision monitor problem

I would try it with other PC, if it is still doing the same thing and you want to DIY repair, then please read below.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for:
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

17 lcd l170 black screen power on but no display

When powered-on, and *NOT* connected to a computer, most ThinkVision LCD monitors will flash, for a few seconds, the IBM ThinkVision "logo", before going into "power-saving" mode. If you don't see that, then it's time to spend about $120, and buy a new 19" (not 17") LCD monitor.
