Bad mic and freezing video

I have two problems. The first one is that my mic isnt all that great, and i have to shout in order to be heard. it says that there's a lot of background noise, but i'm in a quiet room. Second problem is, during a Skype call, the camera kinda flickers. It keeps freezing, and I have to keep pressing "Turn video off" then "Turn video on" like every minute. Please help!
