Dell XPS M1330 Notebook Logo

XPS M1330 is dead, no lights and complete silence.

I turned on my XPS M1330 the other day and all was going well, it booted up as normal and I was off surfing the web. Suddenly I heard a slight "pop" noise and everything went dark. I tired to reboot and absolutely nothing, no lights or anything at all, complete darkness and silence.
I have noted that when the power cord is plugged into the oulet and not the laptop, the power cord's blue light is illuminated, however as soon as I plug the power cord into the laptop the blue light goes off. If I remove the power cord from the laptop the power cord light remains off until I unplug and then plug it back into the outlet. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

I'm affraid your mainboard may be the culprit.

There seems to be a short when you plug in the cord into the computer. The adapter probably tries to protect the laptop and itself from complete anihilation by shutting the power flow.

Service visit required, sorry.

Your laptop might have popped a fuse or capacitor. if you are familiar with dissembling your laptop go ahead and check for traces of glass or plastic. else have it serviced by a certified technician.

How to reset dell xps m1330

Hello,

You may follow the steps mentioned below to restore the Dell XPS M1330 to its factory default:

1 Turn on the computer.

During the boot process, a blue bar with www.dell.com appears at the top of the screen.

2 Immediately upon seeing the blue bar, press <Ctrl><F11>.

If you do not press <Ctrl><F11> in time, let the computer finish starting, and then restart the

computer again.

NOTICE: If you do not want to proceed with PC Restore, click Reboot in the following step.

3 On the next screen that appears, click Restore.

4 On the next screen, click Confirm.

The restore process takes approximately 6-10 minutes to complete.

5 When prompted, click Finish to reboot the computer.

NOTE: Do not manually shut down the computer. Click Finish and let the computer completely reboot.

6 When prompted, click Yes.

The computer restarts. Because the computer is restored to its original operating state, the screens that

appear, such as the End User License Agreement, are the same ones that appeared the first time the

computer was turned on.

7 Click Next.

The System Restore screen appears and the computer restarts.

8 After the computer restarts, click OK.

9 You will need to run Windows Update as well as Live Update for your virus protection as these will be seriously out of date.

Hope this helps..

The sreen of my DELL XPS M1330 suddenly does not lght up!

It can be either the display is dead or it is a loose connection. If you are still covered by warranty then I would suggest you to contact the dell technical support. They will replace the part for you.
However if you don't have a warranty then you can buy this part from dell online store (the display) and you can fix it on your own - http://ahwee.com/how-to-disassemble-laptop-dell-xps-m1330 follow the instructions here to dismantle your laptop and refix it with the new parts. If you find any troubles doing so; please let me know; I will help you further.

DELL XPS M1330 battery is not detected.

Boot to the BIOS and see if the battery status shows normally there. If it does, try uninstalling and reinstalling the quickset utility.

If the battery status doesn't show normally in BIOS then you will likely need to replace the battery.

How do i replace the back light from my xps m1330 dell

Well first I recommend if you do not already know how to do this, please do not. Second the cathode lights are normally 2 cathode lights, usually 1 on the top and 1 on the side, these are inside the outside plastics and set right up next to the screen, you will have to completely take apart the screen, will take an hour or so.

if you bought this from dell, use the restore disks that came with it starting with disk one. you wont be able to save your files bt at least you will have a usable computer. i have an XPS studio 16 and had to do the same thing.

Dell xps m 1330 starts fine but goes ...

Boot into Safe Mode and change the video resolution to the lowest resolution supported. Reboot the machine normally. The problem should have disappeared. From here you can readjust your display resolution to any higher resolution supported by the system if you wish.

Xps m1330 doesnt work?

Remove the battery, and unplug to turn it completely off. then plug everything back in and restart if you still have a black screen it could be your LCD going out. which is a very expensive replacement part.
