I have a Dewalt dw 705 miter saw.when you pull the trigger the saw starts for a second and then shuts off. I have replaced the brushes and it worked for a few minutes and quits. the brushes do not seem to be wearing all the way across the brush. There are random wear spots.

Replacing the brushes did not prevent eventual failure of the motor. Possibly the windings are staring to short.

Have you checked the manual. My Dewalt Dws780 was not turning on, then I checked the manual and able to start it. There was some sort of plug issue with my saw but thankfully it sorted out quickly. I got this saw from this video recommendation.

Go to www.2helpu.com that is the dewalt site. You might have to change the link arm that moves the guard up. They get bent over time. Check other parts on the raise and lower assy for wear at the same time.

Having the same problem. removed the switch and had it tested. They said it's good. Checked continuity through the cord. Good. Going to replace brushes...but then while taking resistance readings I notice the yeloo wire on the left side of switch was shorted to the white. Is that just a ground and neutral? SHoud it read that way?

the commutator might be dirty, try and turning the brushes 180 degrees and you might have to clean the commutator with a stone for that purpose to seat the brushes.

Yes spark in motor compartment is normal. You only need to worry if you see a lot of sparks flying out of the motor compartment! Most power tools will spark inside the motor compartment (particularly if carbon brushes are used).

Bevel and miter could be off... Consult your manual for how to adjust these correctly, but usually the bevel has a 0-degree setting screw or adjustment, and the miter adjustment on the saw is usually done by altering the fence position... Again check your manual for specifics on your saw.
