Re: DENON AVC-2850

1-check sound input source(dvd -tuner-deck)and confirm that amplifier is assigned to sound source-you must check source with it is cabels.
2-check sound output with it is cabels(speakers).
3-if every thing is fine your amp has a problem and needs to go to service center.

I was given a Denon AVC 3020 amp that was connected to a Denon AVR 1082 receiving. The receiver is working fine but I can't seem to reconnect the amp back nor can I use the amp independently from the...

So you want to slave the 3020 to the 1082, right? Use the Pre-outs on the AVR to feed the amp. I imagine the AVR manual, which I cannot find, talks about that.

Have a Denon amp (AVC-A11SR) and cannot use the OSD function. Can you give some solutions on how to fix this. Thanks

I have an AVC-A10SE,very similar. The OSD only works via the monitor out COMPOSITE output, so you will need to connect a cable from your amp from this socket to a composite in (yellow) socket on your tv

When i tun on my DENON avc-2800 amplifier it comes up with 'protection'. How do i fix this

Please see the link below for an explanation of Protect mode. Specific to your model, the output transistors are likely to be shorted. This particular model will shutdown the entire unit if any of the channels have a problem. Without actually seeing the unit and taking some internal measurements, I cannot state for sure the parts required for repair. I would expect a parts cost in the $20-$40 range minimum.

My AVC-A11XVA Amplifier Loses all of its settings in the event of a power cut. How can I prevent this? My old Sony Amp can sit in the garage for 6 months without losing it setting wheras the Denon loses...

Sometimes the IC that stores the settings uses what's called a memory retention capacitor. It looks like a Electrolytic type that has been squashed. They are low in value say 0.22uf and only about 5.5 volts. If it fails it will not keep the IC supplied with the power to store the memory settings of your amp.
It might be marked up different on the PC Board to standard capacitors, so take a look around.
You can get them for under £5 from Maplin, or other electronic shop.

Denon AVC-A1SE in protection mode

The numbers of the transistors thay you need to replaced are on the transistor themselfs. Just take out the bad transistors and get the numbers that you need. I ALWAYS replace the output, driver and bias control transistor myself. One thing to keep in mind, if the number on the transistor starts with "A or B or C or D or K" you need to add "2S" in front of that number when you order it. Now that this problem has repeated itself, double check your wire and speaker. They can cause this problem.
