I have a Nikon Flash SB 600 purchased in 2004. I used it only limited and then in sat in my camera bag for quite awhile. recently when I tried to use it, it won't turn on or power up. I tried new batteries, even double checked that my new camera was compatible with it but nothing worked. Is it worth fixing or should I just replace it?
honestly i would just replace it. i am a photographer, and the sad truth is that most pro-sumer equipment costs as much to fix as it does to replace. i am a little surprised you are having this problem. i use some sb 800s that i toss all over the place and haven't had an issue yet. a couple quick thoughts... are the batteries definitely in the right orientation? are the new batteries definitely good? did you press the power button long enough... you often have to hold the power for a few seconds. are the springs in the flash giving you enough tension on the batteries so they are making contact. does this have the optional quick refresh additional battery, is that in correctly? if you have checked those i would look at getting another flash unless you have some kind of extended warranty. =).

I was able to play with it and discovered the problem was with the lid to the battery case. Once that was tighter it came right to life. Thanks for the help!
