More than one possibility for this problem.
1. the printer software/driver may be configured to use the colour cartridge to provide black (muddy brown). In this case you would need to tell it that you are using a dedicated black cartridge for black printing.
2. The black cartridge may not be seated properly. Take out and reseat.
3. The plastic/cellophane cover may still be over the print head. Take the cartridge out of the printer and peel it off.

I have a Kodak ESP-9 all-in-one printer and the it appears that the left hand tab on the autofeed pulled out of the base unit. I tried to reinsert it into the hole, but it didn't want to go in and I didn't want to force it and break something. Any clue as to how it's supposed to go back in?

The printer stopped suddenly printing. The Ready LED cannot be put ON, while the Toner light (yellow) is permanently on. I do not like to buy a new toner unless I am sure that this the cause of the trouble. It will cost me more a new toner cartridge than a new printer. Thanks, A. Aoki
