Hi Coupon,

Connect your external monitor to your PC. Reboot. If the monitor don't show your desktop. you may have to turn the option on. In the lower row of keys, is one called Fn. It is a specific color. Hold that and look at the top row of key. You should see marking, the color of the FN key. one will show your lappy screen, and a monitor. Tap that one. Usually, each tap moves to a different option. First tap is Laptop screen only, next one is monitor only, another is monitor and laptop screen.
Then right click on your desktop, in a clear area.
Go to properites>Settings and your should see both your screens. Here you can make one your primary, by click on the screen you want as your primary, (I suggest the lappy) and click the box, Make this the primary. Then click on the box names Extend my Desktop. This allows you to move your mouse and Windows, to either screen.
If your lappy doesn't have a Vga out port, a blue one, on the back, you will have to get a USB video card, but they are rather expensive!

Good Luck!

Our projector shows a blue background and does not seem to be connecting to the computer

Several things to check.
Make sure both the input selection on the projector is for PC and make sure the PC output selection is for the external output, as in an external monitor. The PC does not care or need to know that the external output is a monitor or projector.
If none of these works, try a different cable and output on both the laptop and projector ie, Switch from PC output to a DVI or HDMI.

Which key outputs video (screen) to projector

You can switch to an external monitor or data projector by two methods. 1. Connect the external monitor to the laptop's video port, power up the external monitor first and the laptop. The video information will automatically switch to the external monitor. 2. If you power up the laptop first then you can switch the video output to the external monitor by pressing the Fn key and one of the Function keys, depending upon your make and model laptop. You can also toggle between the external monitor or both LCD screen plus the external monitor or back to LCD screen only by pressing the Fn key plus one of the function key. Here is a list of key combinations for some of the laptops :- IBM ThinkPad = Fn + F7 HP and Compaq = Fn + F4 Toshiba = Fn + F5 Dell = Fn + F8

The screen my laptop is white like white bord

If the laptop's screen is white, try connecting it to an external monitor (at work or at a friends if you don't have one) and see if the output is normal on an external monitor.

If external output (to a monitor) is normal, then in all likelihood, you have a bad screen.

If external output is problematic (like the laptop's LCD), then in all likelihood, the motherboard is bad.

Without knowing what model your computer is, that'd be how I'd go about trying to nail down where the problem is coming from.

Acer monitor wont exit power save mode. Ive tryed 2 different monitors. 1 the acer the other a dell and didnt work on both, but the dell works fine as long as its not that pc. I removed the motherboard...

Assuming that it is an "external" monitor, and not the built-in LCD screen in your notebook, you have to tell your computer which option you want:
* output only to internal screen
* output only to external monitor
* output to both internal & external.

Look for a BLUE-coloured 'FN' key on your keyboard, and a button that cycles through the above 3 settings. Push that button while HOLDING the 'FN' key down.

If your computer is set to "internal-only", then the external monitor will _stay_ in "power-save" mode, although the monitor will work fine if connected to some other "desktop" computer.

I am trying to clone my lapptop image with a samtron 73.v and the samtron seems dead :-( It says Test Good but does not work

Most laptops have three video-settings:
* output only to internal screen
* output only to external monitor
* output to both internal and external

Select the appropriate video-setting.

Set your laptop's screen-resolution to 800-by-600 by 60Hz -- a resolution that should be compatible with any 15" Samtron monitor.

Ibm thinkpad t43 backlight inverter issue

Did you say the the video output flickers on and off when you connect an external monitor to the video output. If the inverter is faulty this would not affect the video output and the external monitor would not flicker but if the external monitor flickers it would point to a video card problem.

Acer Aspire 5585 Laptop LCD Problem

Have you tried booting into "Enable VGA" mode via the "Windows Advance Option" screen? By press F8 before Windows XP loading screen comes up. In this mode the Video Card drivers are disabled. So if your screen appears normal and not white in this Mode then it is your video card drivers which are causing the issue.

My FN+F6 doesnt keep my screen on the laptop open

Hi,
I think you're trying to output the screen to external monitor right ? So when you press Fn+F6 this will output to external monitor only but if you do it again it will output to both (External and you LCD) and if you repeat the step again you're back to normal.
goodluck,takecare.
