Hello,
You shouldn't need a driver for this device. It should be detected by windows automatically. If the drive was working fine before, but now has just disappeared, it could be a registry issue. Sometimes the Windows registry gets corrupt and you need to delete the corrupted entries to get the drive to appear again. This is a fairly common issue in xp and vista.
Here is a link to instructions on what to do to fix this from Microsoft. If you are comfortable with the instructions on how to do it yourself (not using the "fix it" tool) then please do it manually. If you are not comfortable with the manual method, then download and run the fixit tool. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
If it is still no good, disconnect and reconnect the power and data cables from the drive, and disconnect and reconnect the data cable to the mainboard, then maybe check in your bios and ensure that the IDE ports are enabled on the mainboard, try another data cable between the drive and mainboard, or maybe test it on another pc........if it's still no good, then test it on another pc or take it to a computer service department, and ask nicely if someone would be so kind as to test the drive for you. If it's dead, then replace it.
Hope this helps! Let me know how you make out
Joe

try reinstalling your operating system ( try format your cd or just repair it). The system will automatically detect the driver for your drive but if it was not listed in the bios try checking the cables attached to your drive.. or still if not.. the drive may be damaged.
