It should show up as a removable drive in "My Computer", and you should be able to copy files to and from the sd card. If it doesn't show up then your card may be broken, so try a different sd memory card. Also, make sure its the right slot and that the device drivers are up to date.

Re: aspire 3690 built in card reader
Go to start. double click on My Computer. You will see your local drives, DVD/Cdrom drives, and usually one or more additional one. Click on the drives till one opens, and shows the data on your SD card. You can now create folders, using "right click>New>Folder" and move data to it. To make this easier, close it, right click on it and in the dropdown menu, select "Send to" and then Desktop. Now you have a desktop shortcut to it. If you want to, Right click on the new icon, on your desktop, select "rename" and give it a better name for you to remember.

It seems that the card reader if the computer is not detecting the card. Make sure that the memory card you use is supported. The multi-in-one card reader on the Aspire One can read and write to Secure Digital card (SD), Secure Digital High Capacity card (SDHC), MultiMediaCard (MMC), Memory Stick (MS), Memory Stick PRO (MS PRO), and xD-Picture Card (xD). Specific models of the Aspire One are also equipped with an SD Expansion slot that can read and write to Secure Digital (SD) and Secure Digital High Capacity card (SDHC) cards. The multi-in-one card reader on the Aspire One can read and write to miniSD, microSD, Memory Stick Duo,and Memory Stick PRO Duo cards but require the use an adapter. Acer does not provide or support any memory card adapters. You can try removing the card reader using the device manager and the reinstall it and check the operation. You may also try using the card is different computer and check. Also try using another card in the computer with the issue and check. If the issue is not resolved please revert back with the model number. Click on the link for the information to Reinstall a Device http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc725782.aspx
you should first check in my computer to see if drive is showing up if not got to the device manager and see if it shows anything wrong with the drivers if all of that is good then the reader it self is bad
Hi, I guess you have a built in card reader? Is there any chance your camera SD card is SDHC? Some card readers including built in types and those that you connect to a USB port have trouble with the later and faster generation SDHC cards but are happy with plain old SD cards. If you are using an external card reader, does it work in another computer? If it does work, then the problem is with your computer. If you have a built in reader, can you borrow someones external card reader that you know and does work with SD and SDHC cards? Can you try an older SD card in your current setup? If that works OK then it's the issue with SDHC that is your problem. Easily fixed by buying yourself a $10-20 external card reader Cheers, Steve
If your laptop does not have a built-in memory card reader then purchase an USB multi memory card reader that can read a variety of memory cards such as SM/XD, SD/MMC and CF/Micro drives memory cards.
All you need to do is plug in the memory card into the card reader and then plug the card reader into the computer's USB port. The computer will see the memory card as an external memory device.
the card reader shouldnt show up under my computer. but the cards should show up there when plugged in. you need to update your driver on the card reader. check in device manager to make sure everything is working properly.
