Wireless connection problems

My Panasonic Toughbook CF 18 is having some problems connecting to wireless networks. Sometimes the icon on the toolbar is X'ed out but I still get a connection. Other times the Icon is green and it won't connect. When I go into Cntrol Panel and repair the wirelesss connection it takes forever and says the action was cancelled. Could there be a setting that was changed by accident? I use this daily for my job installing cable modems and wireless networks. The problem just happens randomly as some times it is fine. Thought it could be the card but was told that is not the case. Any isight or suggestions. I just got this about 2 months ago, has worked great until now..

    I have a CF-30, and it has had multiple issues with connectivity. Sometimes it says there are no wireless devices detected, even though there is a built in AT&T card. Often the wireless 802.11 is turned off- by itself, and when I try and enable it, it says enabling and hangs up forever without ever working. Sometimes when I reboot it works, sometimes when I toggle the wireless radio switch off and back on it works, and sometimes it just plain won't connect no matter what I do.

Not exactly an ideal solution, but why not buy a cheap USB wifi card, install the software, and use that to access the net? Usually less of a hassle than trying to repair an onboard wireless device, and the plug-in ones are now quite dependable, and cheap.

Select Category=Communication Network.
From the list, download and (re-)install the CheckNet Application corresponding to your TB model and WWAN chip.

You will, at the very least, need to have the screen and screen cover replaced. If the hinges also damaged the bottom case to which they are attached, then it too will need replacing.

If you can't get it repaired locally, let me know.

Internet explorer connection

Hi there,

This problem could be due to your DNS settings or your IP Address. First of all you will have to configure your router to accept the new computer. To do this you will need to go in to the router in your browser window and add your new device.

Then you will need to configure your router to either automatically assign an IP Address or use an allocated IP Address and use the same setting on your new computer. Also, you will need to configure your router to either assign a DNS Server automatically or to use an allocated DNS Server and once again you will need to use the same settings on your new computer.

Your IP Address is crucial in order for your new computer to connect properly to your network. Your DNS Server is crucial in order for your new computer to access the internet through your network.

If you still have problems, please do not hesitate to contact me directly on Skype (Skype Username: fixya-support)

Thank you for using FixYa! Have a great New Year and please remember to rate this solution.

Where is this Wireless Switch on the CF-18?

intel proset may have the wireless disabled. go to:

start;
all programs;
intel proset wireless;

in the bottom left of the popup should be an on/off switch. you may get a message saying windows is managing the device but windows could manage getting wet in a shower.

cheers

Trouble booting!

You could attempt to boot to safe mode, and run the Start> System Recovery > PC Recovery Application.

Otherwise, I'd boot to safe mode, select start, run, type: msconfig, select the startup tab, remove any unwanted startup items that may be causing the system crash.

Hope this helps.
