Picture is too large for screen

Adjust the display settings on the computer by right clicking anywhere on the desk top except on any of the icons - a blank area. Select properties then select display settings - adjust to the desired or correct resolution.

The image leaves about 2.5 inches not used on each side of the monitor.

The bands are caused by the monitor displaying a picture that is not the correct resolution. This model has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 according to LG - see When you have your video card set to a different resolution that this the monitor tries to adjust the display to best fit the screen. The native or default resolution is 16:9 or wide-screen and if you have the video card displaying at 4:3 then you will have the blank bars displayed. Go to display properties and change your resolution to one that is 16:9 ratio and the bars should fill out.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

DELL E153FPf doesn't show the image

OSD Warning Messages A warning message may appear on the screen indicating that the monitor is out of sync range.
Cannot Display This Video Mode
This means that the monitor cannot synchronize with the signal that it is receiving from the computer. Either the signal is too high or too low for the monitor to use. See Specifications for the Horizontal and Vertical frequency ranges addressable by this monitor. Recommended mode is 1024x768 @ 60Hz.
Occasionally, no warning message appears, but the screen is blank. This could also indicate that the monitor is not synchronizing with the computer or the monitor is in a power save mode.

My syncmaster 245 bw will only display a blank screen through the dvi port. Another crt monitor works fine through the vga port . I'm running a nVidia 7800 GS video card.

You need to adjust the monitor refresh rate to 60 Hertz or 70 Hertz.
Use the CRT first to adjust it, then after adjust, plug in your Sync Master to see is it perfect or not, find the best frequency that work best.

To adjust it,right click on the screen, enter properties, then click setting tab.
Then in advanced tab, click it then you see the monitor tab, find the perfect screen refresh rate.

How do I get the widescreen monitor to show unstretched images?

i had the same problem with my new widescreen monitor... turns out the best setting (at least, for my specific monitor) was 1440 by 900 pixels. at this setting the desktop still stretches itself to fill the entire screen, but everything else is completely unstretched. (to adjust the screen resolution, right click anywhere on the desktop, then go to properties, then settings.)
