    I have always connected directly to iphoto without using the supplied software.

  • swiman Jan 07, 2008

    using 10.4.11.

  • swiman Jan 07, 2008

    Photos still show up when I view in camera. The rest of your answer is beyond my level of expertise.

  • swiman Jan 07, 2008

    I just tried the following experiment, please tell me if you agree.

    I have 3 sd cards, The first is 1GB when I place in camera it says memory card error.

    The 2nd card is a 256MB that is the one that computer posted no photos to import.

    The 3rd card is the 16mb that came with the camera. When I took photos I was able to import to MacBook. I guess the first 2 cards need to be trashed. Do you agree?

  • swiman Jan 07, 2008

    I am using the latest the latest version of iphoto. With the card reader the photos are loaded into the reader and then I download to iphoto is this correct.

  • swiman Jan 08, 2008

    I don't have an external card reader I am thinking about getting one.

    Try to get hold of a card reader and reformat the cards that won't work.

    Damen Wong Jan 07, 2008

    So the pictures do show up on the cards when you use an external card reader....so the problem is the communication between the camera and the iPhoto. You say that you have always used this in the past...when you were able to transfer pics, was it the same version of iPhotos as now? I am asking because maybe iPhoto worked before because it was an older version and it's newer version might not be working well with your camera.

Its possible that the photos was accidentally deleted, however if you are sure that the photos is in the camera its better reinstall the softwares or driver of your camera to fixed all current errors.

There some methods to download or copy your picture. If your camera is detected by the system you can explore the drive where photos was stored and browse and copy the pictures to the desired storage u wish.

    lets make simple; Transfer the port connecting to pc, i guess you have many ports to connect your camera. try connect it to other port of your pc.
    If not work then;
    Maybe this is the time that u need to install softwares enclosed to your camera.

    if not work.then;
    Sorry but i guess your system has encountered errors about your camera. If you don't mind i will suggest to reinstall your system to make your camera work in the system.

    So you have used this Camera with this Mac before to transfer pictures. Right?

  • Brian Berndt
    Brian Berndt Jan 07, 2008

    Please try to do the following:

    Disconnect your camera cable (USB)

    Turn off your camera

    Shutdown, then restart your Mac.

    Reattempt the process as you have done in the past.

    (Connect camera cable to camera, then power on camera)

    Also, be sure that the camera's mode switch is set to

    PLAYBACK, the Arrow facing to the right with a box around it!

    NO

    I would not trash them, if you reformat them, they may still work!

    If you want to acquire the pictures on the 256 card, you may wish to purchase a card reader, or try to download from another source (photography shop, Walmart, etc).

    Good luck!

    Yes, that is correct. If the photos are not "corrupted", this will work. But if there is a problem, as you suspect, you may be unable to transfer them no matter how you try.

    You can also try to look at the contents of the Memory card as if it were a "hard drive". There may be some of the picture files that are readable, and some that are not.

    Reformatting the memory card is usually accomplished through the camera. Follow the instructions in the camera manual. You don't just want to clear the old pictures from the card, you want to reformat the entire card.

How do i link my canon 550D to my macbook pro laptop but wanting the photos i photograph appear straight away on the laptop in said of the camera screen

There is an easy way of doing that avoiding most software issues and that is to buy an Eye-Fi SD card, its is an SD card that uses an existing wireless network to connect and download photos to your computer. The best part is no cables! You can find them on amazon or eBay easily, here is their website so you can find out more. Hope this helps.

Do what the pros do....use a card reader instead of the camera. When you plug it into the USB port, an icon will appear called "NO NAME". Double-click on it and the pics will open in "preview". From there, you can import them to a folder you create on your desktop or into iPhoto. d05ed6a.jpg

1. With the camera on and in playback mode, plug the cord from the camera into the Macbook. It should appear on the desktop as a drive, probably called "no name". If it doesn't, don't worry...the next solution always works and it's the one the pros use anyway. 2. Get a card reader and use it to download to a folder you create on your desktop. From there, you can import the pics to iPhoto.

Can't access photos on 2 GB SD camera card.

You may try some photo recovery software to rescue the files on your digital camera sd card, here are some for your options.

Photo Recovery (for Windows)
Photo Recovery for Mac

Be careful: Before your pictures are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the card in case the original files(your pictures) are overwritten.

I'm unable to download photos from the disk.

You may be saving the images in the RAW format, which requires matching software to read. Most kiosks can't read them. If this is the case, switch back to jpeg format.

I can't import photos from memory card to computer

Reformatting will not help you and will lose everything on the card. Furthermore, do not attempt any repairs or data recovery until all other options have been exhausted. Have you tried the card in another Mac? Does a simple drag and drop action to your desktop work, or do you get the same or similar message?

Make sure the computer is hard-rebooted and attempt to import pictures from another card. If it fails, problem with program. If it succeeds, problem with card, but this does not preclude trying the above-listed options.
