Ps3 freezes on startup - Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

Have you tryed unpluging device for 10 min. to reset device.

Try unplugging and replugging all the parts of your ps3 (fixes a lot of startup problems). Im assuming your are using an hdmi cable so you can get high definition (it could be this cable). Try to run it with the original non high definition cable to see if you have a faulty hdmi cable (the older ps3's always came with one but I am not sure about the newer ones)

your PS3 is freezing simply because your console is affected by heat, so you have to cool it down.

If the freezing continues even after cooling down, you can follow the steps below:


To stop the PS3 from Freezing, you could begin by putting off your console and wait for 20 minutes. After that, put it back on.

Check if there's any loose cables. If there is, put them back in.

Do you recieve an error message on screen when that happens? Turn your system to standby mode (red light on the console) and press and hold the power button until you hear 2 beeps then let go. This will reset the system to factory defaults. If that does not work call Sony customer support.

ps3 will freeeze up especially if you are useing a hdmi cable to connect..try useing the other cables to hook it up with out the hdmi and see if that helps

this is a startup error, give sony customer care a call, they replaced mine for free even out of warranty with this error.

YOU PROBABLY HAVE A CORRUPTED FIRMWARE DOWNLOAD.....YOU WILL NEED TO RESET THE PS3 BACK TO FACTORY DEFAULT THROUGHT THE PS3 SETTINGS...BEAWARE YOU MAY LOOSE DOWNLOADED CONTENT ON THE HARDRIVE

just call sony and talk to an operator and they'll send u a box to send your consule to them. You'll need your receipt though.

well i got my thanks for the links, this is for the psp and not for the ps3, but its worth a look around if you like all games related stuff, well here is a update for you guys.

After i had the freezing problem at the startup screen (the same as you guys, so this means its a common fault because its at the same spot at the wavey line!!!) i sent my console to some local guy here in england for repair, it cost me £90 in total and was done in 5 days all fixed and working and back to normal, but the thing is its a common problem......hmmm all you guys have had the same thing happen!! at the same startup screen!! its sounds like some kind of software fault as it was fine before all the updates i have to keep doing to play my games, since i had to do software updates it all went wrong, but not all people have had this problem at the startup, my friend has had a ps3 as long as me and also done all the updates and he has had no probs at all, well if it seems that a company can fix your ps3 then someone somewhere knows about the fault and is not saying a word to all us unfortunate ps3 owners, if your in the uk and want the repair address drop me a line.
