connecting a standard cable box to an HDTV and remote doesn't run cable box. After I connect my new HDTV to my standard(non HD) cable box if I use my remote to do a channel up or down it just starts scrolling up through all the channels. If I turn the tv off then it stops and I can control the cable box. I am thinking there is some signal the tv is throwing that is confusing the cable box and wanted to see what I can do to fix this. The cable box is scientific atlanta from Comcast.
are you connecting by scart ? if so some hdtvs send signal backfeed/try aerial tv out to tv/also try basic scart lead as scarts can be faulty dont fit a pound shop one get a top one from maplins etc

I have a 46" Sony Bravia with a built-in HD Tuner that I bought on April '09. I have Dish Network and run the signal via a video input to my HDTV (as opposed to using the coaxial cable). After I bought the TV, I got a nice antenna and then ran the auto program. The TV picked up about 20 channels in HD. Several months went by being able to watch HD channels over the air and Dish when I switched to my video output. About a month ago I noticed that there is no reception for the HD channels that I used to be able to watch. So, is the problem with my antenna? My HDTV's built-in tuner? Or do I need to get Dish's HD package now in order to enjoy HD channels?
