A few minutes on your router's website will fix your problem. just look for the router's driver intended for your system ( Mac/Apple ). download, install it. and it's done.

I have a Belkin Wireless G Plus Router connected via Ethernet cable to a Scientific Atlanta cable modem supplied by Virgin. I can't currently get any signal from the Belkin to my MacBook Pro (I've got it...

Make sure the IP of the Router and the IP of the MAC is in the same scope.
E.G. Router: Subnet
Mac: subnet
Typically the router acts as DHCP-server and distributing ip-adresses automatically, when a computer is connected. But the the IP can also be set manually.

Can a belkin network card f5d7050 work with a belkin g plus mimo router

As MIMO is compatible with all wireless g products there shouldn't be any issues at all....
so some questions:
  • do you have other wireless devices working with the router? if so can you duplicate their settings for this n/w card?
  • have you set security on the router?
  • what are you using to connect to the network the windows interface (assuming it's PC not MAC based) or the Belkin one?
i have a linksys g n/w card attached to my MIMO router & it's fine so I'm sure that this is solvable!

Adapter wire troubleshooting

Cable modems often don't work with a router unless you do something called cloning your MAC address. The MAC address is a unique number assigned to each device's network connection. Unless the cable modem sees the MAC address of the computer originally used to set up service it often won't connect. Cloning the MAC address in the router gives it the same address as your computer, and that usually gets the connection going.

You'll find the link for cloning the MAC address in the router setup screens. Rather than go through the steps here, I suggest you download the manual for your version from Belkin or look at the copy on the CD that came with the router. I don't know which version of the router you have, so the manual I was looking at may not be exactly the same as yours.

Make sure you have the computer originally used to set up your cable Internet service connected to one of the router's wired ports. Follow the steps in the Alternate Setup section to move through the various screens until you reach the link to change the MAC address, and that's where you'll copy the address from your computer to the router. Once that's done your modem and the router should play nice together, and you'll be back online.

Hope this helps, and thanks for using Fixya!

Problems adding new MAC address

Ok... this is an easy fix..first, turn off all the equipment including any laptops with wi-fi. then TURN ON YOUR MAIN ROUTER FIRST. Secondly turn on the cable sure its connected to the already turned on router. This will establish the router as your address the cable modem will set up as the main mac address. Then go ahead and boot up any other routers, and computers and wifi... That should keep everything connected because the router will delegate all the addresses to everything and the modem should remain "happy" with the router addres..

Let me know if this helps... and if you need anymore help.
