There was a power cut mid cycle after which the start/pause button just flashes but wont start.

Is it possible that the outage was caused by a power surge that might have killed your programmer?

I pressed the pause button to add a garment to my Whirlpool frontload washer. After doing so, I pressed the hold to start button, but the washer would not restart the cycle.

Switch the power off from the power outlet for a few minutes , then switch on and reset the wash cycle . Front loaders are not designed to add clothes mid wash.

Why did my washer stop mid cycle and now won't work at all?

Hope your warranty is still in effect. It sounds like your control board has an electronic problem that will require replacement; typically around $135 for the part and $110 for the service visit.

Samsung front loader washing machine power cut out mid load

If by turning off the power you mean you hit the power button .... try unplugging the machine for about 15 seconds and then plug it back in ... this may reset the machine. If not you may want to call Samsung ... Hope this helps!

Asko washer W6324. Ran two loads with no problems. These used the SANI setting (wish I could control the water temp by temp settings and not fabric descriptions). New load of delicates. I set it to woolen...

Try to press the start/stop button for at least 3 seconds. This should reset the started cycle, and you can make a new choice. If this dont help, it could be a faulty control board

My Kenmore Elite Oasis HE washing machine is having problems. We can't find the owners manual but remember that there was something in it regarding reseting the machine. It is starting the cycle like...

Hard Reset - In some cases the control can be non-functioning or may not accept activation from the control panel. To clear and restart the control follow the these steps:

* Unplug or turn the circuit breaker off for 30 seconds.
* Reconnect the unit to the power source by turning the breaker back on or plugging the unit back into the wall outlet.
* Press the Pause/Cancel/Stop button twice to clear the "PF" in the display.
* Start a short cycle to check the operation of the machine by selecting a cycle and pressing and holding the start button until the machine starts.

Machine won't restart after reset, 'start/pause' button flashing.

When you put it to drain/spin does the pump make any attempt to drain,if not it could be that there is something stuck in the pump,needs draining manually.Another thing to try is to find the fault code.If you hold down the 2 buttons on the far right of panel then press on/off button till lights start chasing,then release the 2 buttons on right hand side.Now the first function button by the on/off button you will need to press until the light above the button reaches the 9th or 10th position this will give you a read out in the display.
E10 = low water press.
E20 = pump or filter.
E30 = press. switch or heater faults.
E40 = Door swich.
E50 = motor.
Some of these numbers can vary there are more but those are the most common.After checking codes switch off machine then back on twice to reset.

Hope this helps.

Kenmore Elite Oasis - stopped mid-wash!

run it through a diagnostic test cycle; with unit plugged in, but not in operation, press and hold the rinse button for 4 sec, then release for 4 sec, press for 4 sec, release for 4 sec, press for 4 sec,then all the lights on the main control panel will come on indicating enterance into diag mode, let this test cycle through until you get an error code, then correspond that error code with the one in your owners manual and correct as needed, or if there is no error code, check the drain pump by removing the back panel of the unit while there is no power to the unit and disconnecting the hoses from the drain pump and checking for any blockage... if that checks out ok, you may have a software problem and should test these as needed per the service manual that you can order at sears for your unit.
