Can i hook two 500 gallon propane tanks together instead of purchasing a 1000 gallon tank?

Assuming that you want only one tank to run out at a time, you will need to set each at a different supply pressure, then Tee them together on the delivery side of the regulators. You will need pressure-holding regulators. Pressure-relieving type will not work unless you add a one-way backflow prevention valve after the regulator in the branch that is set to lower pressure.

I would turn the gas on and spray soapy water at the fittings if bubbles appear that is where your leak is. if it is leaking in the lines. turn gas off un screw fittings and wrap them with teflon or what some call plumbers tape they are both the same thing and very inexpensive. if it is at the valve on the tank I would get a different tank

try your local u-hall they just might have the goodies you need to get a bigger tank hooked up, also harbor freight has a tank filling attachment

is the propane hooked up correctly with the valve turned on, and verify that there is propane inside the tank as I have purchased new tanks that were empty. Hope this helps Tim

This heater is designed to work with LP gas. You will need a regulator from the tank to the heater set at 11"wc .that's standard for any LP gas system. Your existing piping system should have a regulator already outside of your house before the gas inters your home .If it does not then you will have to install one. The regulator can be inside but you will have to run a vent line in copper from the regulators vent to the outside of your house.

Make sure all the lines are hooked up correctly. It is going to take 3-8 hours to fill a 3 gallon RO storage tank. It depends on the capacity of the membrane (IE: 14, 20, 30, 50 or 75 gpd). It also depends on the TDS of the water. Water that has high TDS 500+ppm will take longer to produce product water than TDS of 100ppm. Check the pressure in the RO tank. When empty (In a 3 gallon tank) there should be 7psi pressure. A ten gallon tank takes 10psi. If it needs air you can use a bicycle pump to add appropriate air. Make sure the tank valve is turned off when adding air.
Do not use the RO faucet for several hours to allow tank to fill up. Also you should dump the first couple tanks of RO water to make sure any carbon fines are rinsed out.

Rule of thumb is that you have 100,000 btu's per gallon of propane. This only translates into the length of time you have available in a tank of gas. The problem arises when you consume too much too fast. The gas can't produce enough vapor to continuously run and becomes dormant which is commonly known as "freezing up". You can use a typical (20 lb.)5 gallon propane tank (barbacue size), but it will more than likely freeze up in 2 - 3 hours of continous use. I'd suggest going to the next larger size a 30 lb. or 7.5 gallon size. The best way to work this system is to have two 5 gal. tanks so you can switch one out when it freezes and let it thaw while your using the spare.

You are drawing gas too fast for the tank to vaporize. You either need to hook the heater to a larger tank, warm your existing tank or tie two tanks together and keep one tank empty.

A pressure regulator and pipe or hose. Whoever is selling you the tank/propane should be able to help you size everything based on the tank hook-up and tank pressure. The heater nameplate will tell you the proper inlet gas pressure that the regulator will need to reduce the tank pressure to.
