Sounds to me like you may have a cold solder joint in a board ( loose lead on the pc board ) or you might have a b ad eeprom causing the problem. You may need to replace the main board. Also another sitution I have come across is a stuck button on the tuning strip board ( the board/switches that change channels, volume etc ) on the tv. maybe also since the remote sensor is light senative, it may be in the line of the sun ( cover the ir senor on the front of the tv to illaminate that problem ). Good Luck and if you the suggestions don't correct the problem. email me at wyoed1@aol.com or continue with this at this address. Good Luck

3) while holding down the menu button release the power button and press

I have an RCA 27in. screen TV. Cannot program, all is fuzzy.

try unplugging and plugging back in 2 minutes later. go to menu and find channel selection. scroll down to where it says channel. then using volume up and down buttons. will add or erase channel. just play with it and you will see what im talking about. go to channel 4 and press volume up. this will save channel 4 in memory. if no work, try turn on video souce and do a auto program in menu. fixed. enjoy!

MENU SCREEN POPS UP, TV CHANGES CHANNELS, TURNS SOUND DOWN

Yes. Its probably a stuck button on the TV's front panel. Try pushing or wiggling each button on the panel. It could be the channel up/down buttons or volume up/down, menu, etc.

When there is a button that is making slight contact, it keeps the microprocessor busy attending to the command its erroneously receiving from the offending button and may not allow other functions to work when this occurs.

It doesn't matter which button is stuck, any of the symptoms you describe can happen.

Cannot operate tv manually or with remote

may have a corrupted eeprom which means you`ll have to call a tech, one thing you can try is;
Un-plug the tv`s AC power cord, wait 30 seconds, plug back in and pray, this will set re-set the micro to the default mode which may have gotten glitched by a power surge, hope it works for you.

FPA Lock

After doing a little research, it looke like the front panel lock , can only be removed from the parental control menu using your remote. If your universal remote does not get you into the menu, see if you can borrow a friends rca remote long enough to get you into your menu & remove the fpa.
