Try scanning from MS Paint or Acrobat & see if it works. If it does, the HP/Vista software is probably at fault. If not, the scanner is probably faulty.
Did it ever work or did you just plug it in? (Did you load the correct drivers?)
Black printer ink in HP Photosmart may fail to be recognized by the printer. Most times an error message will be sent indicating that something is wrong with the black print cartridge. Sometimes the printer may accept to print with the black ink, but the printouts may have horizontal lines and very illegible letters. In such a case a manual cleaning of the print head should be carried out. In doing the manual cleaning, one should spray Windex heavily on paper towel and wipe off the surface of the print head.
The problem cannot BE solved. It's yet ANOTHER Vista screw-up. Original Problem: "No matter what I try - every page from Jarte prints out with an UNWANTED gray background. This does not always happen when I print from the web, make copies or print from Microsoft Word. I ran diagnostics on my printer HP PSC1510 and it's fine. Test pages print ok, too. Please help - I had Jarte on my last laptop (Windows XP), it worked very well and I liked it much better than MS Word." I emailed Jarte Tech support and got the following answer: "The problem you encountered is a bug in Windows Vista. You will see the
same problem when using WordPad on Windows Vista. As you have noticed,
not all programs are affected by the bug. The problem is occurring
because you are using a Windows color scheme that uses a gray
background color for text windows. Unfortunately, the only work around
is to specify white as the background color to use for text windows.
Hopefully, Microsoft will correct the problem in a future Windows Vista
service pack."
I've had a problem with a 926 freezing at the end of printing when deleting the job from the print queue. This was as a local or network computer/printer task.I changed the print processor to winprint/NT EMF 1.008 and this cured the problem.Right click on the printer/properties/Advanced/Print processor and give it a try.HTH.
(Using Vista Ultimate)
drivers are most likely not up to date, especially if you used the old ones. Gotta go to lexmark, and get the latest Vista friendly driver. I recommend the highest quality one, with the most features(so that Vista won't spit it out again).
