Question about Dell Latitude D600 Notebook
I have a Dell Latitude D600 laptop and it was working ok a couple of days ago but know it does not power on. When I press the power button all I notice is the battery LED light flash red for a split second.
I have removed the RAM and wireless card and still get same problem. I read somewhere that it might be the processor, so I replaced it from another laptop (same model and make) and I still get same error.
Any ideas, help would be most appreciated.
When you unplug the ac adapter does the battery light lit up when you try to power on? If it does.. does the battery have life?? Well the next step is to remove the battery and try using only the AC adapter and see if it stays on.. if it doesn't they your power connection could be loose from the motherboard... B/C in general the LED for ac adapter should go on when you plug it in.... Well try that and see what happens..

I bet this is a motherboard short not just the power jack. If you use your laptop with a D series port replicator or docking station (make sure your adapter is a PA-10 90 watt adapter or it wont work!) and the light on the adapter goes out then its NOT the power jack its a bad motherboard. If seen a lot of these D600s die this way. I am seeing D600 motherboards on ebay for about $150 though if you like the laptop it might be worth it...
