Yes, first change the paper setting button to normal, then you can lower the image quality on copies.

It finally helped after fidgeting with the paper setting. Thanks.

Print quality poor for mp780. Had s800 which

Hi,

There seems to be a calibration problem. Follow the calibration test from the manual.

If you are using original cartridges, go to canon for repair.

My incoming faxes won't print. both black ink cartridges r full

Is there any message when you try to print the faxes?

If there is an "Image Quality" message, probably the printer is set up to "Copy" in "Photo" or "Fine" mode and it needs to be set to something other than "Fine" or "Photo"

How do I change image quality

I presume you are trying to copy something on your MP780.

In the "Copy" mode, press the "Image" button beside the LCD screen, then use arrow keys to change to another quality, then press"OK" button and the machine should be set to go.

MP780 copy mode/resolution

Mine was stuck on fine photo resolution too and it wouldn't print in normal black. I tried lots of things and the only thing that seemed to work was pushing the photo button and then pushing the copy button again. Good luck.

Print quality stuck on fine

Did you check in the software? There should be a print quality option in your driver software.

Can't change image quality

The problem is that only "fine photo pro" is available when the paper selected is photo paper. Change source to the sheet feeder, hit the "Paper" button and then select normal paper. You'll then be able to change the quality to normal.
