Paper jam

Sometimes you have to tear it out piece by piece. I have had to use tweezers to remove the last little bits. Also, a tiny bit of paper remaining can prevent the printer from printing again. Be careful not to damage the printer while getting the paper out.

Xerox phaser 8560 says "paper jam - open front

try cleaning the microswitches. it may also have a sensor and if the little plastic piece that crosses between them has broken off it will throw codes. mine is ok so i cant say for sure but you can try to glue a suitable piece in there to trick the printer if thats the case or bypass the sensor. just a few suggestions from my experience with electronics

sensor is kind of this: gap is where the plastic part is supposed to go in between.

I removed the paper and it won't reset. I've looked all through it and there is no more paper in the printer. It will not do anything else but say that there's a paper jam.

  1. Turn OFF the Printer, unplug it and turn it backward.
  2. Push the tabs on either side of the access door -NEVER try to Pull Paper out of the front.
  3. Check inside the opening to see if there is a piece of paper jammed in the rollers.
  4. Using a flashlight, gently pull the paper out from the rollers and look for missing pieces.
  5. Replace the access door into the opening. Push gently until you hear it click into place.
  6. Turn it around, turn it On and try again.

Try, unplugging, turning it upsidedown giving a gentle shake. I've found paper clips, coins, thumb tacks, swiss cheese, pieces of plastic, etc...

My granddaughter put a toy in printer & a part broke off - thin, translucent piece about 1/4 inch wide by 7 inches long. How do I open up the printer in order to try to put this part back?

The plastic piece you are talking about it just prevents the paper from bending forward when is inserted in the printer. That plastic piece should not cause any paper jams or printing problems. If you do happen to have paper jams maybe a piece of plastic fell inside where the paper goes. Simply turn off the printer, remove the paper and flip the printer upside down and shake it a little that should remove any debris inside the printer.

Paper jam, removed paper but still says jammed. Is there any way to tell where the jam is or reset machine ?

You should be able to have a piece of paper feed all the way without hanging.
Most of the times, you can see a small piece of paper stuck in a corner.
I have used a cut piece of plastic ( from a file folder ) and worked small pieces out that way.
Good luck, Happy Holiday's

It prints one page at a time and to print next page i have to open the trade and close it back again it look like it pick up the page but does not push it thru

There is a little round plastic gear like piece that pushes the paper up and thru the printer. Sometimes, when there is a paper jam, and the paper is stuck, this little piece can be pulled out or broken, by accident. If the part can be found, then you can glue it back in place, although, this doesn't last too long. I have had to replace many of my printers because of this part and haven't yet figured a way to fix it permanently, because I am dealing with a little plastic cheap part.

you have a small piece object stuck inside the printer wheels. turn off (unplug) printer. then get a small piece of plastic. I use half of a thin plastic binder or any thin plastic you can find about the thickness of 2 sheets of paper. must be rigid plastic not flimsy. ((Even a pice of cardboard same thickness (2sheets) of paer will do the trick)) insert this from the back of printer where paper goes in and you should see the jam come out at the bottom of the printer. be very careful(gentle) as these wheels can become dislodged or break if you are very rough with them. once removed you may also want to turn pringter upside down (again carefully) they are light but just be careful. this may help to remove debris. Once cleared and printeing properly... always remove paper when not in use and cover top of printer with a towel. This will prevent pet hair etc from getting into the wheels (feeder of printer and extend the life of your printer. Although they seem to be cheaper to buy a new one when the ink runs out sometimes LOL :)
Hope this helps

Paper jam

i'd suggest that you use only one thickness of paper, and also clean the rollers with denatured alcohol.

OKI C5100 printer repeated jams. Usually flashing the code of "380: paper jam" as the message.

I too kept getting the front cover paper jam despite followings Oki's paper jam removal instructions and blowing out the printer with compressed air.
In my case, the paper drawer was the problem.  When you pull out the drawer there is a spring loaded piece of white plastic at the very front of the drawer.  In the center of that is a gray rubber strip.  That strip had come loose in the center and bowed out, preventing paper from exiting the paper drawer.  I manually removed the strip, clipped off a little piece from one end so that it fit back in the recessed cavity on the white plastic piece and glued it back down.
This should be applicable to all Oki c5xxx color LED printers.
