I have an Acer 5517 laptop with Vista Home Premium. I have created a non-Administrator account with special restricted settings for my child. It worked for a few days, but now when he logs on to his account, the keyboard does not work, the keys just emit a soft beep when they are pushed. The keyboard works when I am in my Administrator account, though. I would like to keep the child account, if possible, as it took me a while to set up.

open control panel->accessibility options->in here under each tab, there'll b a 'settings' button(esp. under 'Sticky'; 'Filter'; 'Toggle' Keys under the 'keyboard' tab)->click on all the settingsindividually->and turn off by unchecking or remove the check marks/(uncheck)from "Use Shortcut"..restart
hv a licensed and UPDATED antivirus installed (i prefer avg/kaspersky, remember, without updation, a full version antivirus is useless)..
download, install n run microsoft kb890830..http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=AD724AE0-E72D-4F54-9AB3-75B8EB148356&displaylang=en..
download n run Startup Control Panel..http://download.cnet.com/Startup-Control-Panel/3000-2094_4-10039330.html..'removealltheunnecessary startup items from here..(if u can't find what to remove,post me/us in ur comment with all the items listed in each n every tabsherein)..
remove all unnecessary software from add/remove programs..
download, install n run 'Advanced System Care Pro'..http://download.cnet.com/Advanced-SystemCare-Pro/3000-2086_4-10399324.html..
for better professional supervision, do contact ur system admin/vendor....
Open Windows Explorer and go to %SYSTEMROOT%\inf. Now find a file called sysoc.inf. Open it with Notepad (double clicking should work). Find the following line:
AccessOpt=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,optional.inf,HIDE,7
Remove HIDE so that it looks like this:
AccessOpt=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,optional.inf,,7
Now save the file. This will make it show up in Add/Remove Programs | Add/Remove Windows Components under the Accessories and Utilities option. It won't actually uninstall the Accessibilty Options, it just disables them..
