ipod touch 8 gig 1st generation...no sound from any headphones, a little if I move the base around a bit. Can I fix this myself? Is it fixable? My husband says the jack is lose...am I screwed?

Yep, you are! If it's under warranty (12 months), take it to your nearest Authorised Apple Service Centre and they will get it exchanged in a couple of days
No warranty? Google "iPod repairs" in your country and you should be able to find someone who can fix it. The usually have a self diagnosis on line so will get an idea of the cost before you begin. Don't try it yourself!
