If your running it on auto dry , and not getting any heat , it will continue to run . If using on timed dry , then the timer will shut off . Need brand and model number to help you . Only 1 problem : no heat .

if you have timer on time dry and it doesn't move timer is probably bad, if you have it on auto dry or some say more or less the timer will not move if there is no heat

Could be the tumbler. Also check the vent coming from back of dryer make sure it is not clogged. And as for the timer it could be bad you might have to move it a little up or down because it is probally sticking. But would not cause the clothes not to dry.
