- take it apart and clean the lens with eye glass cleaning solution .. but be careful its really delicate (flexible mount) .. there is something else that you might want to try first .. at most appliance stores they have a cleaning disk (about $8 or you can sometimes find them for $2) .. this disk has a brush mounted across some tracks .. dont touch the brushes .. just insert the disk and it will automatically brush off any dust or hair .. it wont however remove smoke .. its usually worth a try and works about 70% of the time .. you can clean the lens periodically with that ..

if you clean the lens directly then dont spray anything on the lens .. spray on a lintless cloth, soft paper towel or qtip .. dont get spray down into the mechanism
