Typical diodes are 10 amp for these. The stator and rotor both have VERY low resistance readings. The reading typically will be below that which will register MEANINGFULLY on the digital meters.

My generator had 10 amp diodes with surge protectors across them. One of the protectors shorted and generator output was zero. Mine is a 6KW diesel silent unit.

Replaced the diodes with 70 amp ones with surge protectors that have 20 times the energy absorbtion as the originals. Unfortunately this required some lathe work to make holders for the diodes and the surge protectors to ride on the rotor.

Used the light bulb trick to remagnitize it once diodes were replaced.

POWER GENERATOR LOW VOLTAGE

How long has the unit sat? I doubt the problem is the rotor, but it is possible. Disconnect the brush wires, (note where they go for polarity) Put an ohm meter across both rings and read the value, then go from each ring to ground = 0Mohms between rings approx 1ohm or less. Then check the stator output wires the same way. If you have DC voltage on the brush wires then your AVR is working, it is trying to flash the rotor field.

55kva gfwison generatore having trouble of no output voltage showing nor it feeding

If it is an FG Wilson 55KW Olympian you need to check the AVR and make sure it has a field output feeding the exciter stator, then check the rotor diodes, check each one with a meter, low res one way high the other with meter leads. If any are bad change them all, check the exciter rotor, then the main rotor and stator for open or shorted windings. If you give me the exact model I can maybe help more

UNIT SHUTS DOWN FREQUENTLY

How soon after starting does it shut down?
The hour meter is fed directly from the AC output off the generator stator, if there is no AC output the meter will not run. Assuming it shutdowns quickly, check 1st the oil level and make sure the low oil sender unit is ok, wire #24 to ground. If that is bad it will shut down. Check to see if you have 240V on L1 and L2 on the breaker for the brief time it does start, that will confirm stator/rotor has an output, then your problem moves from the generator portion to either the oil sender, or control board.

Subaru rgx3600 generator only producing 5volts

Sir take out the stator assembly from the engine and clean it properly from inside with cotten cloth moist with gasoline and then clean the roter while fixing it back mind the gap between the rotor and stator sometimes there is dirt or other material sucked inside the alternator which diaturbs the megnetic poles as a result the stator does not produce enough charge for exsitation

might need to excite the generator with a drill.

Generator stopped producing electricity

if the generator has been sitting for a while you might have to excite the magnets to start producing power. plug in a reversible drill and with the generator running turn the drill in the reverse direction by hand while holding the trigger in the forward position.
