i am trying to pair my cell phone (VerizonTour) with my PC sony vaio vgc-js 100. my phone finds the pc but then asks for the pc''s numeric passkey. how do i find out what that is?
numeric passkeys are usually defined on both ends. Just for giggles try 0000 or 00000 or 2006.
after looking at sony's website i found the following excerpt "The passcode of this unit is fixed to 0000. This unit cannot be paired with a Bluetooth audio device whose passcode is not 0000." Hope this helps, Best Regards, -md
Your pc doesn't have a numeric pass key. All you have to do is entery any arbitrary number when it asks for the pass key. But you should the remember the number that you entered as the passkey. Once you enter the pass key in the cell phone a similar prompt will appear on the computer asking for a pass key or password or something similar. Just enter the exact same number that you entered in your cell phone. Ofcourse you don't have to do this everytime you connect. Just create a pairing relationship between your pc and your cell phone. Consult the manual of your phone to find out how to do this. This is actually a security feature. It prevents unintentional pairing of two bluetooth enabled devices. It does get kind of annoying at times.
