I would take the cover off and you be able to locate the fuse then replace it can buy the fuse at lowes or home depot

my haier microwave had blown the fuse, i purchases a pack of four at radioshack catalog# 270-1041 for $3.29, they are the ceramic fuses that will withstand the power and are the exact as the original that was inside the microwave. now it works. i did my research because other places charge shipping and surcharges that amount to much more for just one fuse.

While changing the light bulb under the unit, the wire connected to the light bulb holder touched the metal housing and totally blew out the microwave so it doesn't work.

normally there is a glass fuse in the circuit where the power comes in
check that fuse/ replace if necessary
As silly as it sounds --turn the equipment of at the wall before you work on it as it might have been you that blew and not the fuse

My microwave went dead while heating up something what could it be

It probably blew the main fuse. Since it blew when it was running, it might indicate that the fuse holder isn't holding the fuse tightly enough; causing it to heat and internally melt.

You also could have some sort of failure, or failing component, in the high voltage circuit.

GE Spacemaker microwave makes groaning sound when start button is pressed for a second or two then blows the internal fuse. After replacing the fuse everything seemed to work, lights, exhaust fan, cl

Could be a lot of things but most probably a shorted high voltage diode assembly. If not that then the magaetron or capactors. Remember be careful there are high voltages even when the oven is unpluged. The capactors are usually charged and must be discharged. If you don't know what yor doing then time to get a qualfied tech.

Good luck

Microwave blows fuses

A short likely in the wiring for the light or at the safety switch embedded on the side where the door closes----be careful as a 20 amp fuse takes something major to take out.
(for it to blow)

This might be best left to a qualified service person.

Panasonic NN-S540BF where is the fuse?

There will of course be a fuse in the plug, but also there will be a fast-blow specialist glass fuse inside the machine, mounted on or around the transformer. You will have to take the cover off the microwave and expose its innards to find this.

Food for thought:

This is supposed to be a professional operation not to be taken on by unqualified people

If you ARE going to do it, unplug from the mains before you start!

Take the fuse to your local electrical shop, you wont get one of these fuses from a supermarket

Ask yourself why it blew? There is a tiny chance it was a coinidental mains power surge. Far more likely that it blew because it needed to, because the tarnsformer has become faulty.

If you replace the fuse, be prepared for a 50/50 chance that it will just blow the new fuse straight away because it has an electrical fault (That you will not be able to repair, believe me!)

Finally, if you take a microwave apart, you should have it safety checked for leaking microwave energy after.

This is one of those "you shouldn't really do this yourself, but lots of people do" warnings. Proceed at your own risk.

While unscrewing a light bulb under a microwave a fuse blew out theirs power to the microwave but it wont turn on

you are more than likely gonna hate my answer
fist thing i would check is your inline fuse
depwnding on the model
unplug the unit
open the door, remove the screw holding the control panel in place, lift the panel up and out
do not disconnect, let hang
you should see a grate right behind the control
behind that grate you should see your fuse
looks light a little metal tube
