IPhone touchpad only partially responding

The bottom part of my iPhone touchpad is not responding at all, even though everything above the first centimeter or so is. The problem is, the bottom row is necessary for turning the phone on and for accessing the phone number pad. Please advise.

I am currently having the same problem with my iPhone, however, it seems that the bottom 1/4-1/2 of the touch screen is not functioning.

I have tried to reboot (holding home button and power button down at the same time) and the screen is still unresponsive.  Would appreciate any solutions.  Thanks!

I saw the problem of my iPhone not responding to touch at the bottom of the screen when it was brand new a couple weeks ago. I was unable to get it to respond to an End Call on several occasions - the bottom portion of the screen. I found that dragging my finger rather than simply pressing helped. The problem mysteriously disappeared and I have not seen it lately. AT&T had me turn my unit off and on several times while trying to get any sort of service connection to them - which may have helped this problem.

tried everything.  The bottom of the touchpad is not working.  Just keep trying and waiting to see if it fixes itself.  The phone went bizzerk right before it happened, launching programs and typing rapid random letters at high rate.  does not look good.

The bottom part of my iPhone touchpad is not responding at all, even though everything above the first centimeter is. can't use the space bar on the key pad.

same problem here. iPhone is a brand new 8Gb with 4weeks of life. The bottom row is unresponsively at all. No SMS, No MAIL, No Phone.
I called the Apple Care Service. They told me that they will ship a package for iPhone replacement. Total estimated time: 15days.

iPhone is no unlocked. Only appstore applications. So, i think that the problem is an HW problem.

I'll give you news as soon as i can.

    cheers,

First, wash your hands thoroughly. then, get a dry, absorbent cloth and wipe it over the iphone several times.
Then, Try Restoring. Plug it into itunes and click Restore When it pops up. Please note that this will erase all data on the iphone.

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

The bottom part of my iPhone touchpad is not responding to touch

The touch on the screen works as a seperate component from the screen itself. Either the lower portion is damaged and has to be replaced, or it is wet and can't sence touch as a result. The one may get better in time if the components don't corrode, the other is probably not resolvable...

The touchpad is most probably defective. If you have dropped your laptop the touchpad cable could have get out from its connector on the mainboard. You can get a new touchpad/palmrest on ebay. You have to remove your touchpad/palmrest as shown in the link below, steps 17 to 19 :

http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-A105/remove-motherboard-1.htm

Identify the part number of your touchpad/palmrest. Search on ebay.com : Toshiba Satelitte A105 palmrest. Buy the one with the same part numer as yours.

...or have your laptop repaired by a professional.

My iphone wont slide to unlock, I dont know what to do??

First try to reset the setting. If resetting wont work, then your touchpad is faulty.
Another way is to press the power button to go into standby mode. and turn it up again. see if the touch is responding.
Else, reset the entire setting, just like formatting it and restoring to the previous version.
If all fails, then you're doom. you'll need a new touchscreen.

Do note that Iphone comes with LCD and touchpad. these are two diff things.
You might need to replace it.

How do I partially lock my touch pad so that my palm doesn't screw things up when I type and accidentally touch the pad?

If you look at your touchpad, you will notice a small elongated button, right above it. When you push the button, it will lock the touchpad. However, it will lock it entirely, until you unlock it. You will not be able to move the cursor or click on anything. I don't think HPs have the ability to "partially" lock the touchpad. At least, I was never told anything about it while I was working for them.

India Iphone touch screen (bottom portion) not responding

As you have already said your iPhone has been tampered with, you have an Unlocked iPhone which renders the warranty Void, even if you put the phone back to defaults once the iPhone is in Apple's hands the software tools they run against your phone will tell them it has been hacked and you will get no support.
