you said you have p/n 280751-B21 , this is 16X DVDROM Read only -- this cannot do anything buit read DVDs.. it will not record anything, it is not capable.. if you give me the computer modsl and S/N , i iwll advise which CDRW/DVD youc an install in it (computer) to record and write CDs and DVDs
right click on the drive then properties then hardware and enable the cd and dvd recording then try if the problem still ocurs then its time to change the drive(u can also change the lazer ray with the same type)
tou have the problem with the super drive (DVD RAM) lens...>> sometimes dirt that gets collected over the lens can cuase such problems >> such dirt can be cleaned a DVD len cleaner or removing the drive ...or else it's the end you have to replace your drive...
ARE YOU TRYING TO LOAD A PROPERLY FORMATTED DISC??? IS THE DISC PLAYABLE ON ANY OTHER DVD IN YOUR HOME??? HAVE YOU RUN A LENS CLEANER IN YOUR SYSTEM??? HAVE YOU PREFORMED A SYSTEM RESTORE BEFORE THIS STARTED?
You can try to uninstall the hardware, turn off the PC, and then allow Windows to find it when it reboots.
Or you can try to update the drivers for it by going to the manufacturer's website. (google is your friend :D)
You can also try the restore function located at: start -> all programs -> accessories -> system tools -> system restore
restore it to a earlier time when it was working with no problems.
