Sony Vaio PCV-RS720G not recognizing new Seagate Hard Drive. When I first installed the drive with XP OS running, the pc recognized and formated the drive. Since then the original drive that I was going to replace died completely. Now the bios is not recognizing the new hard drive. I have a new OS, XP Pro to install. I can't find the update for the bios anywhere. It's a Asus board installed in a Sony PC with AMI bios. Nice huh?
This should be a quick fix. How old is the machine you are trying to update? Do you know if the jumpers on the drive are in order? Is it a SATA or ATA drive? Did a CD or Disk come with your drive? Check jumpers on your old drive and make sure the jumpers on the new drive are similar ( master, slave, cs ). Usually leaving on Master is best. Is anything else on this line, like a CD or DVD? I think you'll get it from here.

What are the problems using a JNC92 motherboard with a ADPE4S-PB daughterboard? I am connecting 4 x SATA 1TB disks in RAID 5. I can see the disks in the BIOS. I can see the disks when I look at the properties of another disk in the "Hardware" button, and am told they are working correctly. But cannot access them in Windows XXP Pro SP2. Can only see and access them as JBOD not RAID. Why? Hywel Davies
