I have the same problem on my Jenn air double wall oven:

The upper door does not close tight enough, so that the light stays often on and the oven does not start heating up properly - I have already replaced the hinges (which was pretty easy, but did not really help) I have switched the lower door and the upper door, which also did not make a major difference - now the lower oven door still closes just fine, the upper one has still issues - any ideas of what else I could do???

Lower oven door will not close all the way. Oven light stays on and heat escapes when cooking. Tried tightening everything imaginable and it does not correct the problem. Any solutions?

The hinges on the new Jenn Air ovens are stronger because the old ones simply weren't strong enough to hold the doors.  Our doors never closed correctly, and then the bottom door fell off! It nearly broke my toe. My cousin had the same problem.  She's a designer. She found out about the hinges and had a Jenn-Air authorized repair place order the new, heavy duty hinges and replaced the old ones. Now hers works.  I'm in the process of doing that on mine now.  Jenn-Air deserves to be sued for not disclosing this problem to their customers.  Good luck!

I have the double oven Jenn-Air that the upper door will not close all the way, which allows the light to remain on unless one pushes the door in a little bit. Is there a simple fix for this?

It was a problem with Jenn Air wall ovens, maytag posted a tech bulliton on it in 2003 heres the link
http://www.servicematters.com/maytag_library/docs/TDC-0017B-B.pdf

but you need to replace the hinges and sockets with the beefier ones, and the kit saves money verses buying just the hinge.
part number 1200211 for single and combo units
and 12002112 for double units

i know for a fact that the double unit kit is only $85 USD so the single should be less.

i nkow this because i had to replace the hinges in one today for a lady with the same problem.

Thanks, Joe-Appliance Tech, Appliance Doctor

I had the same problem. The first time the Tech. came out, put a new hinge in and it held until Nov. 07. ( 8 months ). Then the left hinge brakes when I opend the door and it crashes to the floor. Bending the right hinge and the metal doorliner. Jan.7,08 everything was fixed. On 1/11 after no more then 10 openings & closings the hinge broke again. This time I heard the crack of the braking metal after opening the door 2 inches. It now sits in my kitchen propped-up with a stick, waiting for the repairman. I am sorry I have no solution , but there must be a problem with the hinges. I forgot to tell you that it started with a door that did not close, like yours.

Cannot put the oven door back on

Hi Elspeth:
Don't know what make or model you are dealing with, but from personal experience, here's what I dealt with.
- Oven door is mounted on spring loaded hinges. That's what keeps it in the closed position.
- To remove the door, it has to be fully opened, then lifted from close to the hinges, and slid out.
- To put the door back on, the hinges have to be in the "door open" position. Since they are spring loaded this can be tricky getting them into position.
- It's easier with a helper, one on each side....... slide the hinge legs into the slots. You'll need to lift the door slightly towards the closed position to allow the hinge legs to engage in the secure or latched position.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.

I can't close the oven door

Hi Jorgey,
Either there's something inside that's stopping it closing properly or the hinges have been deformed and are not working correctly. So clear out the oven and try door. Otherwise inspect hinges carefully for deformation. If necessary remove door and hinges. Carefully try to reshape the hinges. If this fails you need new hinges

Hi the right hand hinge of the door has popped out whilst I was trying to move the oven using the door handle as leverage. The door is now wonky when closed as the hinged has popped out. Help!

All oven door typically lift off the hinges by design. If you open the door to what is referred as the broil position. You know when the door stops about 4 to 6 inches open at the top. Then do the following.

1. Lift the door up completely off the opposite hinge still in place and remove. Set the door aside carefully as if has glass window, you do not want to break.

2. Then set both hinges at the broiler stop position. If one is all the way in to door fully closed position pull it out with your hand or with pliers till it stops @ broiler position. If all the way down as if door was fully open, lift hinge until it stops at broiler position. CAUTION- THE HINGES ARE SPRING LOADED AND CAN SNAP BACK INTO FULLY CLOSED POSITION. You can use a heavy glove or if you have an oven mitten, that can work to protect your fingers. DO NOT GET YOUR FINGERS BETWEEN HINGE AND OVEN OR CAN PINCH FINGERS.

3. Now carefully lift the door over the hinges set at the broiler position. Careful not to bump them when doing so or can snap closed. If does, reset hinge to broiler position and repeat. Works best to hold door at angle that door is when in broiler position. Once you have them started evenly, you should be able to fully slide down back onto both hinges.

4. If one of the hinges no longer has spring tension you have to reattach the spring. You can usually access spring if needed by removing the bottom drawer.

Oven door falls open and will not close tight on my Jenn-air Single oven Model #SVE47100w

Hi,

The hinges and receivers would need to be replaced on this. The hinges are part number 71003351 you need 2, they go inside the door, so the door would need disassembled.

The receivers (hinge receptacles)are part number 71002206 you need 2 also, these go on the side of the oven. You will need to pull the oven out a few inches to gain access to these

Bosch HBL 645 oven door won't close all the way

I am afraid that the door hinges are non adjustable, and the only solution is to replace them as a pair.
There should be some kind of latch mechanism at the end of the hinge
where it is fastened to the door to compress the hinge to enable you to remove them.
Hope this helps.

I have a Neff U1420 double oven and the hinges on the main oven do not close the door fully. I have read that it is possible to correct this problem by putting washers under the screw of the hinges but I...

Hi.
If the door does not close properly then the fault is a faliure in the door hinge springs. Sorry but using washers will not cure the problem..

The only way is to replace the two door hinges. You may NOT need to replace the hinge backs.

If you would like to email me the full model number (numbers after U1420) then i can source the part numbers for you.

Faulty oven door

This IS SO EASY !! I have the DACOR 48...no tools, 5 minutes and you are done! It took me 8 years of frustration and I fixed it TODAY !!

Just open the door, latch the small hook that binds the two hinges together. Next try to slowly close the door until resistance. Just when you think you might break something push up another 2 inches. Now lower the door , unhook the latch to seperate the hinges (latches) nad PRESTO a snug fit !!
