Another E-Machines power supply goes down in flames...film at 11

Truth is it probably is just the power supply. It was well that you were protected by the power bar so as to avoid a catastrophe. You can try replacing the power supply, a 300 watt or greater is recommended. sometimes the power supply failure will damage the motherboard in the process. In that case, you may want to look into a new computer.

LG LRMVC2306S top left fan does not kick on. Why?

The fans need to run all the time, because it keeps the coils clear of frost. Air circulation should be constant.

Bad electric fireplace thermostat??

I worry about the power strip. Any electrical load is bad news for power bars. Significant fire hazard. (Think like a space heater under a desk... The load of the heater will overload the power bar over time.)
Plug directly into a wall outlet and test again.
If you are forced to using an extension cord, it MUST be heavier than the power cord to the fireplace model.

Cheers,

Doc

The fan doesn't run on my procom md200tbe natural gas heater. I'm sure power source it good, etc. Is it thermostat controlled? Wondering if it's possible the temp never gets high enough for it to kick

There should be a 'snap disc' heat activated switch that is responsible for starting the fan on rise in temperature. This should occur around 140 degrees. If the fan does NOT start, it will cycle on the high limit safety, usually at 200 degrees. Some hi limits are manual reset. The flames should be two shades of blue, an inner cone of a shade darker than the larger, taller outer cone of light blue. An occasional flicker of BRIGHT orange may dance across the top of the flame, but never a YELLOW tip.

It would be hard for it to burn reasonably normally with gas pressure so low that it wouldn't produce enough heat to get to the 'fan on' temperature. There would be other issues too.

I'm just guessing the 'fan on' switch is defective or a wire is burnt off somewhere in the fan circuit. Of course, the motor could also be bad.

Pilot flame flickers when burners on and drops out valve

You should either do a smoke test or use a candle to check for drafts to be sure that it is not a gas pressure issue.

Samsung plasma TV cooling fan didn't turn on and the TV overheated. Tried replacing with a new fan, but that fan will not turn on either. TV works just fine with back cover removed and a 12" desk fan...

the is a fuse on the board if you follow the power line on the board back to the main power board you will find it. also test the volts with a meter just make sure you have volts. some of these models also have a thermal switch that then the tv hit a surtan temp the fan kicks in.

My compaq presario c300 wont start up, power button illuminates the cooling fan kicks in then all the lights flicker and it the swithes off,

This is exactly the same problem as I have. I have changed the power brick and the battery but the problem still exists. PC World were useless and said it "probably needed a new motherboard" although I doubt this is the issue. It worked when I first put the new battery in, until the initial charge ran out. Did you find a solution?

Temperature is not reaching set temperature. Furnace flames twice then stops, then fan kicks in and runs for 5 mins then stops. Then flames twice. Then stops working all together. The flame never burns...

Tara,
If flames go on and then go right out it is usually a flame sensor problem. These are usually found on newer furnaces with electronic ignition systems. It will be located in the flames of the burner farthest away from the ignitor. If you see an orange glow before the flames light then thats it! If ignitor is on the right side then flame sensor is at the opposite end. It is a round steel probe with a white ceramic top and a wire running to it that sits in the flame and is a little bigger round than a coat hanger. Shut off power, wait to make sure it is cool to the touch, using a piece of steel wool( or sandpaper if none available) give it several good strokes to clean it. You may have to remove it from the top by removing the screw and pulling it out. I usually can clean them without removing them but I have small hands! Turn power back on and it WILL run if that was the problem!!!!!!
