Oven takes up to 25 min. to preheat

My Tappan gas range is about 10 years old. Recently I've noticed that my oven takes anywhere from 10 to 25 minutes to preheat to 350 degrees. Do I need a new ignitor? thermostat?

I would suggest looking at how long before the bake burner ignites. If taking longer than 5 minutes before it ignites, then you are looking at a possible bad ignitor. The ignitors just don't last more than 5 yrs with regular use.

Gas oven takes 30 mins or more to to preheat

Open the bottom and have a look at the burner while its heating. The flame should be strong blue/white and both sides the same, if they are not you have some blocked holes in the burner. Remove the burner and clean out the holes (carefully, don\'t ream them out, use a small paperclip to clean them, be gentle.). Above all do NOT use any kind of oven cleaner on them, if they are aluminum, and most are the oven cleaner will destry it.

Oven takes 5 minutes to come on (ignite).

Replaced the igniter. The parts guy told me that the amperage changes with age and use; thus the igniter still glows, but it takes much longer to operate the gas valve with the reduced amperage. Cost - $70.14

My GE Profile Spectra oven is taking approximately 10-15 minutes to preheat to 350 degrees and does not seem to fully bake food as per instructions. It takes an extra 5 to 20 minutes to bake anything. ...

18 mins from room temp to 350 is factory standard,
you may need to calibrate the range, most now adays come factory set at -25 degrees for safety
depending on your model number in your instruction manuel should be a part about recalibrating it sounds like your about 25 degrees off

KitchenAid gas range superba not reaching/registering right temp.

Always preheat your oven and let it cycle at least 2 times. Your unit may show 350 but the manufactures know that it is not 350. When it registers preheated, it really means that it is at an acceptable temperature to start cooking. If you think that it may not be calibrated correctly, your owner's manual will have instructions on how to recalibrate your oven. You will be able to raise or lower the temperature by + 25 degrees or - 25 degrees. As far as the gas smell, you will from time to time smell a gas smell with a gas oven especially if you are right at it when it ignites. If you are smelling gas when it is not in use then you should be extremely concerned.

Takes long time to preheat oven

you can increase the sides of the flame, by opening the orifice inside the oven, the location is where the burner sits on, what supplies gas to the burner. that will speed up the time.

Preheat worksoven wont bake

hi The range timer is usually located in the control panel on top of the range. If you suspect the timer is faulty, don't try to fix it yourself. Remove it and take it to a professional service person for testing. Here's how to remove the timer:

Step 1: Remove the back service panel to the control panel and release the spring clips that hold it in position, or remove the retaining screws.

Step 2: Push the timer forward to release it.

Step 3: Remove the electrical lead wires from the timer housing. If, when disassembling the timer, you notice that the electrical wire terminals look burned, remove these leads and buff the leads and the terminal points with fine steel wool. Burned and/or dirty terminals can cause the timer to malfunction, but a good cleaning can solve this problem.

Step 4: Replace the old timer or install a new one of the same size and type, if this is necessary. Connect the new timer the same way the old one was connected.
