I have a sony DSC-W150 and the camera turns on but it says "for use with compatible battery only" and then turns off. I talked to a sony representative and they told me to take the battery out and then hold the power butter for 30 seconds but that didn't work. They told me that it is probably the firmware and said it would cost over 200.00 dollars to get it fixed is there any way I can fix this myself? What else can be the problem?
I just bought a Canon Camcorder that has some sort of code that won't let it charge up while in the camera and plug in to the house outlet, unless it is made by Canon. Maybe Sony is doing the same thing. A new Sony battery goes for $40 to $50. Cheaper than $200 (if it works).
