Question about Polaroid TBX-2000AF 20 in. TV/VCR/DVD Combo

Polaroid TTM-2003 Locked up.

I have a Polaroid TTM-2003 set. My son was Playing his Xbox 360 on for the first time and when he finished playing it I told him to turn it off. The next day when he turned the tv back on, it was a black screen with a small red key at the left btm. of the screen. The dvd player does not work or respond to any buttons and the tv will not respond to any buttons except the on/off button on the remote. Any ideas on how to fix ? I have tried unplugging for a couple of hours and it still the same screen with the red key at the bottom. Thank you for any help with this problem.

Re: Polaroid TTM-2003 Locked up.

The same thing happened to me. The manual on says to press and hold the F button (located at the top of the remote) and press the mute button at the same time. This will unlock as well as lock the TV. It's a child safety feature.

I have a TTM 2003 and the sound has gone bad the TV is humming. Do I need to junk this or can it be fixed ?

With the price of new ones, you are further ahead in replacing the set, cost to repair will be close if not more than a new one.

TV picture works fine. Not using the tuner. Only watching DVD's. Just got, as used. After just a couple of DVD's, the sound fails. Picture still playing, but sounds like a fax machine after...

DVD signal processor chip seems defective and dvd signal board replacement may cost more than tv worth. Local tv repair shop will replace dvd board if you still want to fix it.
Hope this will help.

Hi there. My girlfriends 2003 TTM Polaroid TV DVD Combo does not turn on anymore. She told me that the TV started switching channels, therefore she turned it off. It would not turn back on and still does...

If yours is anything like my Polaroid FLM-373B 37", I had the same type of problem. The problem with mine was two capacitors on the display board. Took me about an hour and less than $5.00 to fix. You have to take the access panel off the back. Mine was held on with three screws. You also have to take the display board out which mine was held in with four screws. The capacitors stand straight up on the board and are round with either black or silver colored on the top. Look for two silver ones that may be bulged on the top or are leaking. If you find this, that probably is your problem. I hope this helps. If you need more help, please let me know.

Yes, you do because it doesn't have a digital ATSC tuner:

Polaroid Model TLX01911C

This set is listed as having the ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee) tuner. This tuner provides reception of digital over-the-air (antenna/rabbit ears) signals and would therefore not need a converter box fir that use.

If you are trying to receive un-encrypted digital signals from cable, the ATSC tuner does no good. The set would then require a QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation) tuner. I am not sure if this set has a QAM tuner or not. Even if it did not, your cable provider must provide a way for you to receive their signal and should make their converter box available to you.

Hope this helps explain things a little,

Is this TD Digital ready or do I need a converter box?

It is NTSC-M which means analog with color so yes, you will need a box.

Where to find a schematic

That's because Polaroid is the ONLY place you'll be able to get one... Polaroid didn't build that unit, a company called Prima built that TV and put the Polaroid brand on it. They do that for several other mnaufacturers also like ADVENT and AUDIOVOX and technicians have been screaming their heads off for years. It goes something like this, "...if you're too *&^%&^&$ stupid to build and support the TV yourself why put the customer through hell when it breaks down - and it will eventually break down. The answer's simple, just quite farming your dirty work out of the country." Prima is located somewhere in Canada, good luck finding them.. And a better known PWW Services are here in the states. But like Prima, the lights are on and no one is home... On a bright note though, you can go to PWW Services web site and find an assortment of user manuals for the various brands free... So, about your problem - - this one is a definately take it to the shop. And don't be surprised if it takes forever for the tech to blindly trace test every component in the SMPS just to get the darn thing running again. It will be a bit like threading a needle with a sludge hammer / blind folded... Good Luck! Bill

Says "no disc"

I've found it works after the set has warmed up. I don't know what the problem is. The other thing is I will just keep ejecting - just hit the eject button over and over - open/close etc and after a while it plays. It's REALLY annoying
