Outside light doesn't work

I have an outside light that will not work. I put a regular bulb in and it works. I put a brand new High pressure sodium light and it will not. any suggestions? It's suppose to use a HPS.

Hi There, this sodium light needs a higher voltage to work with not the regular one.
