Why is my pixma mp 240 flashing

Why is my pixma mp 240 flashing "alarm" and "color" with a 5 (or S ?) in the window next to the on button. I have one black ink cartridge properly installed. The problem begins when I push the black start button, or "print" on the computer.

Error 5: The FINE Cartridge may not be installed properly, or the Cartridge may not be compatible with this machine. Open the Scanning Unit (Cover) and install the appropriate FINE Cartridge. If the error is not resolved, the FINE Cartridge may be damaged. Contact your Canon service representative.
