HI MY PROBLEM IS THAT ERERY TIME I START THE PRINTER TO PRINT I GET A MEASSAGE THAT THE SCANNER FAIL AND TO START THE PRINTER OVER AND I DID THAT AND IT GIVES ME THE SAME MESSAGE WHAT ISW THE PROBLEM?

got the same problem on a hp ai1 c4180. can you clarify if you get one or none attempts at scanning before this kicks in. im investigating mine at the moe and maybe the same fault.

Is this since you got the printer as new or used? I would make sure there is no "Lock" on the scanner head. some models do have either a slide switch or screw which locked the scanner head into place for transport. refer to your manual to double check this.
