MY HOOVER Steamvac F5906-900 does not run

I plugged in my steam vac and the motor ran for just a couple of minutes then it stopped. Nothing happens when I hit the on/off switch. I tried different outlets with no changes.

The cord looks fine and there was no indication the motor was going bad. How to test?

There is a switch, but could be a bad cord, or the motor went bad.

You would need a meter, so you can check for continuity on the cord. The cord has 2 leads, so you test to see if one of the leads is open. If one lead is open, replace the cord. Same with the motor, unhook the power leads and see if you get a low ready or not. If you take the motor out, does the fan turn or is it froze up. If it is, replace the motor. If you check the swith, turned off, it should read open, on it will read alittle or continutity.

Hoover steam vac spin vac making loud noise sparks flying

The only source for electrical sparks is the motor so it must be checked. Bad motor brushes or a broken wire are possible causes. Do not use in this condition.

The vaccaume motor won't work on my brand new steam vac by Shark

If this is new and returnable then I recommend an exchange. If not possible check to see if the vacuum has an internal fuse on this model. If not, use a voltage tester and test power to and from power switch and to the motor itself.

The spin brushes on my hoover steam And vac don't

Either the pin on the brushes that attaches to the motor shaft is broken, or the motor is dead. Did you check the switch on the front of the unit to make sure it wasn't turned off?

Fan not running

If by fan you mean motor then it could be a simple fix. First, has the filter been changed or cleaned recently. And second, is there a clog of debris in the house or passage way leading to the bag or canister? Many vacuums are now equipped with a thermal switch that interrupts power to the motor. This helps prevent heat damage to the motor as well as reduce the potential for a fire. Often, after checking for clogs and doing simple routine maintenance/ cleaning, it is simply a matter of allowing the vac to cool. If after 10 or 15 minutes, the vac still does not work, then start at the power cord plug and work your way to the motor. Be sure the vacuum is not plugged in when inspecting the power cord. Look for damage to the cable. A cut or deep abrasion may be enough to short the circuit. If this has happened, likely a breaker associated with the outlet you plugged the vac into has tripped. If you know the outlets good, and the power cord looks to be in working condition, the next potential culprit is the power switch. These can very greatly , depending on the make and model. Typically, you can feel that the switch is loose or that it is hard to switch on and off. These qualies could indicate a broken switch. If the switch seems good, perhaps the motor has failed. Most later model vac motors are not easily serviceable, and are otherwise very cheap to replace. The average household vacuum retail for about $60. So if you have been using the same vac for a coupl of years, you have likely gotten your moneysworth. Good luck!

My shop vac stopped working while vacuuming i looked at everything i could look at and still wont work tried several other outlets checked cable still nothing

Staring from the failrue of the power cord, the main plug,t he main switch each of the sections must be tested for continutiy before we can conclude.
SInce it is clear case of power failure the voltage must reach the motor,if not back trace to the point decribed above.
If voltage is at the motor without any reponse then the motor can be faulty.Checked also faulty surge/capacitors.

Not working  I hit the switch and there is no sound of a motor.  Nothing is happening.  It was working seconds earlier and suddenly it stopped.  The plug was in and I replugged it into...

If it was just a broken belt you would still hear the motor running. most likely its in your cord or switch. check the main cord, connections to the switch, and also the motor supply cord that goes from the handle to the vacuum head.
