I forgot my password to my 8gb ipod touch

You need to restore it with iTunes, but you can't restore an iPod While its Locked With a password, well in order to Force it to Restore you shud put it on Recovery Mode.
Hold down the power and home keys down for about 10 seconds each while
plugged into iTunes. When the screen goes black, release the power
button but keep holding the home key until itunes says. We have
detected an itouch in recovery mode.
From there you can restore as normal via iTunes.
and that will reset you configuration including Your Password.

The ipod must be put into recovery mode and then restored with itunes.
I've done this too many times so this does work:

are two solutions for this you an either rest the ipod to factory
setting but you'll loase all your data or else there is a way to find
the password so you dont have to loose anything.
1.Plug the iPod in computer.
2.Go to "My Computer" And click the apporiate drive your iPod.
3.Change the folder option to "View all hidden files and folders"
4.Navigate to ipod_control
5.Then go to Device
6.Then there is a file there named"_Unlocked"
7.Open that up with a text editor (Notepad) you can find the passcode there.
