Triangle and ON/OFF switch both flashing. Window reads 'CHECK PRINTER'. What exactly do I check?
Window had been reading 'WASTE INK NEARLY FULL' for a fortnight, but I couldn't find out how to deal with this. The printer was still printing.
The waste ink absorber is getting full. Press the OK button to clear the error. Printing can be done until the waste ink absorber becomes full. If the waste ink absorber becomes full, please contact your local Service Center for replacement of the absorber and machine maintenance.

My Canon PixmaMP170 is saying 'Check ink VO51 blk col'. There are brand new ink cartridges in there and I've tried everything I can think of, could someone please help! We recently replaced the colour with a re-fill but the black ink is a brand new cartridge. My girlfriend really needs to use the printer for her coursework. If anyone could offer a solution i thank you !

I have a major printer problem; in fact I'm now worried that the printer may be corroded and I will have to buy a new one. My printer is a Canon Pixma MP170 and I have so far used a remanufactured cartridge from a mail order company which was then refilled by a local Cartridge World franchise, both of which worked fine. However I then had my original Canon cartridge and that same previously refilled one refilled by another internet shop at the price of only £6.99 and now can't print or photocopy at all. I went back to Cartridge World who tested both cartridges for which I had been getting the message 'check ink, code U051' on their machine and they printed OK in the shop. Anyhow, I bought another remanufactured one from them in a new cartridge and lo and behold! that does not work in my printer either! Whichever of these three cartridges I use, I get the 'check ink code UO51'. Translated, this means that the cartridge is either not aligned properly or is not compatible. But the strange thing is that, after a lot of trouble getting it to work at the outset, the original Canon cartridge refilled at £6.99 did work after I ignored the lighted alarm button and pressed OK. I was happily printing but then a week later when I went back to use it again, all I could get is this 'check ink U051' message with everything frozen up. I turn the printer on, the 'check ink U051' message comes up on the display, the alarm button is lit but both the OK and the copy button are dead. I can hear the carriage return with the cartridges installed move back and forward but there is no response from pressing one of the buttons. Do you know if there is anything I can do? I have tried shaking the cartridge and trying to clean the gold bit with a toothbrush as a friend suggested. Is it worth trying a spray clean called Servisol RE70M from Maplins? I did have to try many times putting the refilled £6.99 cartridges in the slot because I thought I might have been inserting them wrong and I wonder if that could have corroded something? Any ideas please? Thanks. Anna P.S. Despite trying several times, I have unfortunately been unable to open up the link to your Terms of Use to read them. Could you email them to me please?
