The DVD player keeps telling me no disc I have tried 3 other movies and there are no scratches on them. Is there something broke inside that is reading the Discs?

Hi, it seems like the DVD laser that reads the disks need to be cleaned, you will need to use a DVD disk cleaning kit, this is available at most stores.

Hope this helps

Every disk that I try to watch on movies shows no disc error message it won't play the movies but it does play musical CDs

There are several possible reasons why your DVD player is not playing movies, but is playing CDs. Here are some steps you can take to try to fix the issue:
  1. Clean the disc: Sometimes, a dirty or scratched disc can cause the "no disc" error message. Try cleaning the disc with a soft, lint-free cloth, wiping from the center outwards. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasives.
  2. Clean the DVD player: A dirty lens or other components in the DVD player can also cause problems with reading discs. Try using a DVD lens cleaning kit to clean the lens, or open up the DVD player and carefully clean any visible dust or debris.
  3. Check the disc format: Make sure that the movies you are trying to play are in a format that is compatible with your DVD player. Some players may not support certain file types, such as Blu-ray discs or region-specific DVDs.
  4. Check the connections: Make sure that all cables and connections are securely plugged in and functioning properly. Try using a different cable or port if possible.
  5. Reset the DVD player: Some DVD players have a reset button or option in the settings menu. Try resetting the player to its default settings and see if that resolves the issue.
If none of these steps work, it's possible that there may be a hardware issue with your DVD player, such as a malfunctioning laser or drive motor. In that case, it may be necessary to take the player to a repair shop or consider purchasing a new one.

Won't read Dvd/Cd as loaded

It is a problem of the optical head being covered up by foreign particles obscuring the optical lens. Try using a CD/DVD cleaner disc which has double brushes and one add some solvent which comes along with the pack.Simply play it & keep ejecting and inserting the disc makes the disc to spin, till your player starts reading it..............................sodeep

I put a disc (dvd) in and it will start saying it's reading the disc and then will tell me no disc is inserted. CD's play well and so do picture DVD's. But no movies. The movies are brand new and not...

Picture dvds are read with different software than that required to play movies. Make sure that you actually have dvd player software installed on your system, like WindDVD or Power DVD. See this link for a few.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.

Movies are freezing

it depends on the condition of your dvds and how old your player is.
try using a DVD disc cleaner. This cleaner looks just like a disc with some extra little brushes on its surface. Some DVD cleaner kits even come with supplies to clean and modify scratches on your discs. if this dont work you may want to get a new player..

please leave a fixya rating as thats how we get paid...

Rented videos are freezing temporarily during playback

If the rented DVD is too scratched it will cause the DVD player to pause while it tries and find the next available playable area on the disc. This may cause the player to skip to another part of the movie. Try wiping the disc with a damp cloth from the centre towards the outer rim and dry the same way. Fingerprints ect. also cause problems. If the scratches are circular the player will have a hard time trying to play the disc. If the scratches are straight and small it shouldn't cause too much problems.

Player suddenly freezes

Try running a dvd cleaner through it first, before trying anything else (the type that looks like a DVD with a brush underneath).

The regular DVD might have been a fluke (scratches, rental?, burned dvd?)

Was there anything special about the new Blu-Ray Disc - what was the tile? On certain titles, you may need the firmware upgrade found at:
