I have a Whirlpool Washer model GHW9200LQ and a Whirlpool Dryer Model GEW9200LQO I have a problem with my clothes smelling bad after they are washed and dried. My towels you don't even want to dry with them the smell so bad. I have used Tide HE soap Gain He soap and I use a a softner in all loads. We are ready to go to another brand we are so upset with the smell of the clothes. Towels are the worst. Clothes are always put in dryer when they are done washing. Can you help? You can reverse the dryer door, but not the washer.
For the smell, use a washer cleaner (like affersh) or run a cycle with bleach only , no clothes. If the washer has a clean washer cycle on it, utilize it. Also, leave the door cracked after a wash, and make sure you are not using too much soap and/or fabric softener
The following are the methods you can avoid odor in clothes.
Check that the drain line is clear
Check the drain hose for kinks or blockages
Check pump for blockages
Check for build up of soap in the outer tub
Check for article of clothing stuck in the outer tub

i have repaired appliance most my life i tested soaps and softer,at our own family shop,i can tell you that washers do not make mold or bad smells either does cloths its what and how much product that you are pulling in the washer that is molding and smelling and it stays in cloths building up load after load,i have a kenmore he3t front load washer i use 1/3 cup powdered only.armen hammer only. non he only.my washer inside is spotless smells clean and fresh all the time, you will need to clean yours inside out with bleach then use affresh weekly switch to 1/3c powered soap
clogged water screens , defective water level pressure switch , clogged drain, kinked drain hose ,. defective water pump , defective water tempeerture switch, damaged water valve solenoid , water inlet valve has an interal malfunction
