I have gotten to a point in my install of Windows 7 where the I get a message that says ''Setup is starting services'' then a box comes up on screen that says ''windows could not complete the installation. To install windows on this computer, restart instillation''. well when I click OK. It restarts computer and the same messages come up over and over.

- Acer sent me the discs to install Windows 7. They said it was compatible. Is there anyway to get back to my old operating system? I tried F10 and black screen with info came up but I don't know what to type in or anything to restore my system.

- My system is Acer 6930

- The installation is almost complete after several restarts, over an hour or so, when this happened.

- Can't use my computer and just bought a month ago. Waiting for Acer support to email me back. They didn't supply a recovery disc with the laptop. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Have you checked with Acer that your pc can accept Win 7.0?

if its not compatible then you may be floggin a dead horse with it, I doubt there will be many Win 7.0 drivers available yet for older systems but you may be lucky.

- If you want to get back the old OS then have you got the recovery disc's from Acrer?

If not then see if they can supply you witht hem or download them from their website.

Does your computer succesfully pass the Win7 test for hardware and software needs? The information I have found (http://www.acer.com/windows7upgrade/eligible.html )
does not indicate the 5600 series qualifies. The listing jumps from 5538G to 5735. Sorry ...

- Sorry for my bad -- I read Aspire 5630 somewhere. The 6930 is in fact on the "OK" list. Now, as to why Win7 does not want to install, after multiple attempts, how long does it take to get to where it's stopped? What happens if you just let it sit there and crank on the install? How long have you the patience for this?

- You can reinstall your previous OS from the original disks that came with the computer. If F10 is the key to start from alternative locations, then hold F10 down and select the DVD drive to start from. Follow the prompts to replace the OS. I sure hope this works for you!
